What kind of strategies will encourage student independence, allow evaluation of on-task behavior, and reward achievement?

Having students go over classroom rules every morning together, allows students to have a reminder on what behavior is expected of them each and everyday. Color-coordinating schedules based upon the color books and folders they use, encourages students to independently transition periods. Setting timers to remind yourself to check on-task behavior and reward good behavior, will create a sense of consistency within the room. I loved the idea of having students self-monitor themselves with the timers. The ability to monitor ones own behavior, is crucial. Setting out materials and allowing students to gather needed supplies themselves, allows the students to work independently on tasks. Providing students with points each day and adjusting their levels based upon behavior, provides a constant reminder to students to monitor their behavior. I loved her classroom and gathered a lot of good organizational/teaching tips to include within my future classroom!
